It's hard to pinpoint what exactly makes Muller a great footballer, as he generally could do so much at a very high level, yet the special thing about this player is that he might appears to be the most ordinary player on the pitch, which couldn't be further from the truth. His hardworking attitude combine with special skills to interpret space, made him an ultimate support player, a vital piece in Germany's success towards World Cup glory.

Regarding his game, Muller would constantly moving and slip into spaces, making himself available for passes. This would confuse the opposition, and enabling him to laid the ball off to a team mate. Combine with a great intelligence in attacking phase, his assist numbers soaring high, in fact only second to Messi for the last ten years. He wasn't top level at passing stats per se, but his brilliant decision making, constant scanning, movement and intelligence simply too difficult to handle at times.
