Is there any striker better than R9—ever?
In my honest opinion, there isn’t. Not in the past, not in the present. And throughout football history, only a handful of players can even be mentioned in the same breath as Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima.

This isn’t an exaggeration—it’s simply the truth. No one has ever blended raw physical power, flawless technique, blistering pace, and deep footballing intelligence quite like R9. Watching him in his prime felt like witnessing a prototype of both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé—but rolled into one player, and perfected decades earlier.

Between 1997 and 1999, R9 reached a level of footballing greatness that was almost mythical. During this short but explosive period, he often carried both Inter Milan and the Brazilian national team on his back—turning games single-handedly with unstoppable surges, sublime finishes, and moments of sheer genius.

But this golden era came to an abrupt and tragic halt. In 1999, during a Serie A match against Lecce, Ronaldo suffered his first major knee injury. What followed was an even more devastating second injury in early 2000. The R9 we knew—the one who defied logic and physics—was never quite the same again. Some even say that God had to "nerf" him, because he was simply too good for this world.
