Alaba is another case of a player being so good at lots of things, it's hard to pinpoint which area would represent his main strength. In fact, Alaba is not initially a CB, just like Ramos ever was. He was a full back at heart, that's why he has those great stamina and speed. And just like Ramos did, when he was starting to be deployed as CB, there's nothing that looks outstanding about his pure defensive skills. He's always going to be a player who utilize his muscle more than his brain. As harsh as it sounds, that's the inevitable truth, in fact, I believe this is what Real Madrid wanted from the start by signing him, to get a straight replacement for Ramos. A somehow chaotic CB at times, but still a great player overall nonetheless. And the most important thing, he's valuable to the team, by having those winning mentality and aura.
