After series of injuries and inconsistency, Van Persie was still regarded as one of the best talent in Premier League, even though there was doubts surrounding him that he might never be able to reach the level of his predecessor, Thierry Henry. Then came along the 2011-2012 season, in which we saw the departure of Cesc Fabregas to his boyhood club, Barcelona. That move brought another shade of uncertainty to the Arsenal fans, which lies on who would be the leader of their seemingly sinking ship that is their club. Little that they know, their new appointed captain would be the savior of that sinking ship, by becoming the best striker in Premier League since Henry himself.
What Van Persie did in 2011-2012 is no coincidence, he's actually carried that fine form since the previous season, in which he missed quite a lot of matches due to injuries (unsurprisingly I must say). The season after is quite a different story however, where Van Persie acquired his best form and relatively free from injury issues. He's becoming consistent and clinical, breaking club record by scoring 35 goals throughout the 2011 year, a record previously held by Thierry Henry. Not only that, he's also becoming Premier League top scorer that season with 30 goals. And then after joining Manchester United the following season, he became once again the top scorer in Premier League. 2010 to 2013 really was the golden period of Van Persie, a period where he successfully silenced the doubters and becoming a genuine Premier League legend.
