If there's one footballer who could symbolize reliability, longevity, and consistency, it's gonna be the evergreen Modric. Modric is the type of player who'd you want to give the ball every single time, that's why when he's not playing, either Madrid and Croatia losing the tip of balance in the team. If you compare him with two of the greatest midfielder that has similar traits to him, that is, Xavi and Iniesta, you'll notice straight away that he's neither as good as what they were, yet he could do the combination of both close to their level. What I mean by this, he could be the reliable passer and tempo dictator, though not as masterful as Xavi. Also, he could infused wizardry on the ball like Iniesta, though not quite as good. Despite this though, he still capable of doing what Xavi and Iniesta good at, and then combined them in a very consistent manner. That's why I have huge respect to this player so much, though he wasn't as pleasingly aesthetic and masterful as the aforementioned two, he does things reliably, in a very long time. This might just enough to cement him as one of the midfield great.
